First Star Academies partners with universities and local CPS, to house, educate, inspire and enable foster youth while in high school, to prepare them for college and to self-advocate. Fourteen Academies are in operation: UCLA, URI, GWU, UConn, Loyola Chicago, Rowan NJ, UCF, CUNY-Staten Island, University of Miami, Rutgers University, Illinois State, University of Utah, George Mason University, and St. Mary’s University (UK). Many more in development, in the United States and internationally.

FS University Village is a pilot Permanency and Education Accelerator launching in 2017 adjacent to UCLA, for high school aged foster youth, in collaboration with the County Department of Children and Family Services, County Department of Mental Health, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the California Department of Social Services, Seneca Family Services and others, to house, educate, inspire and enable foster youth in high school to prepare for college, accelerate their achievement of stable permanent placements with individual foster families, and encourage them to self-advocate.
